Morocco Economic Competitiveness Program, Morocco
The Morocco Economic Competitiveness Program (MEC) is a four-year United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded economic growth program that takes a multi-sectoral approach to reduce barriers to productivity, trade and investment in Morocco. The Program has three components:
- Improving the economic enabling environment.
- Using water sustainably for agricultural growth
- Strengthening workforce development.
ECO Consult is providing technical assistance to MEC during its program life in improving the capacity of key Government of Morocco institutions to implement water/agricultural policies; develop institutional and operational structures for agricultural wastewater reuse at the regional level (Meknes and Oriental); finalize and support implementation of treated wastewater reuse schemes in the Meknes agricultural pilot project; complete a feasibility study on the wastewater reuse downstream of the wastewater treatment plants in Oujda (replication of the Meknes study); and facilitate the creation of a partnership between selected organizations within the Government of Morocco and the Royal Hashemite Government of Jordan.
